Title: Commitment to Diversity Equity & Inclusion and Volunteer Actions
Guest Speaker: Michele Valentine, Organizational Development, Volunteer Serices, and DEI Director, Adnea Health
Adena Health System (Chillicothe, OH) has long been committed to a diverse workforce, including volunteers, that is representative of the communities and patient population. As with most things in life, Adena Health System is working to make improvements along the way. To assure diversity and inclusion are always top of mind, Michele Valentine’s role as Director of Organizational Development also includes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Michele’s presentation will discuss relevant DEI topics that are present in our professional and personal lives. Michele will round out her presentation with “Volunteer Actions” related to DEI initiatives. There will be an opportunity to brainstorm and network with OHVMA members regarding how DEI initiatives impact, improve, etc. volunteer recruitment and retention, volunteer positions and opportunities, etc.
Biography:
For more than 21 years, Michele Valentine has demonstrated that her faith, care, compassion, and strength make her the ideal person for this very important role that will advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Strategic Plan at Adena Health. She is a key business partner with leaders and volunteers in recommending, developing, and managing Adena’s diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives and community partnerships to thoughtfully heighten Adena’s diversity and inclusion actions and results.
Michele has progressed in her career since joining Adena in 2003 as a medical record transcription manager. During her tenure, she has also served as an education specialist, a clinic manager for Adena Nephrology and Adena Dermatology, and was promoted to Director of Service Excellence. She continues in the role of leading HRBP’s, director, Volunteer and System Services, leading volunteer recruitment and gift shop business operations.
Michele has earned an Associate’s degree in Business Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Ohio Christian University (OCU), where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is currently working toward a Master’s degree in Human Resources. Michele lives in Chillicothe. She is married to Brad Valentine and has three adult children, Miquela, Jordan and Bryce and one grandson Sonny Jay.
