Our Auxiliary is still fairly active and works hand in hand with the Foundation.  Our foundation director is a past Auxiliary President - so it has been a good partnership and she sits on the Auxiliary Board to communicate Foundation events etc... Our Auxiliary donates to the foundation and provides health care scholarships each year.

At Firelands, the Auxiliary is now a 'department' of the Foundation and organizes and controls the fundraisers and the donations raised by them.  They pretty much work as one, but the Foundation is much bigger.  The Gift Shops are still touted as 'Auxiliary Gift Shops'.   Our Auxiliary had been shrinking for many years and kind of wondering, in view of the pandemic, how much longer it will really last as a membership-based group.

We no longer have our Auxiliary but when we did the Auxiliary would do fundraisers (bake sales, jewelry sale, our gift shop etc) and annually the Auxiliary would donate to the Foundation.  If the Foundation needed something for a Capital Campaign or even something smaller the Foundation Director would attend a meeting and give her pitch and then the Auxiliary board would vote on what to donate.  Many things in our facility are because of the Auxiliary and Foundation working together.  I also report to the Foundation Director.  WE have a close working relationship because we both do so much fundraising.

    Hi All,

Wondering if any of you could offer some insight (if you have both Auxiliary and Foundation) to a partnership between the hospital foundation and the hospital auxiliary.    Our new Auxiliary Board President Elect is asking to have a meeting with the Foundation President to see how they can partner... have any of you worked with this type of arrangement or have advice on what would be correct approach?

Thank you and Happy New Year!

    Jessica
