Hi Julie:
We have brought volunteers back in low risk and high need areas - Outpatient Registration - escorting patients that have been screened, reminder phone calls for Radiology and the Gift Shop. We had our infection control director speak with those wishing to return, as part of their annual training (10 volunteers at a time for 3 sessions = 30) and then we video taped her presentation. Her power point presentation and the video are available to others that wish to return. All must go through this training prior to returning as well as sign a consent form (I used a version of Anne McGookey's consent for --THANK YOU ANNE) --- that our legal department looked over and added a paragraph (attached).
So far the volunteers that have returned are very happy to be here. We have had some complications with scheduling, and cross training volunteers, however for the most part it seems to be working. Unfortunately, there are not as many slots available for the amount that wish to come back. We are not re-opening ER for the foreseeable future.
