At Mercy Health, we are bringing volunteers back in phases.  We are currently in Phase one.  Which is 60 and under with no underlying health conditions.

I have attached our reintroduction of Volunteers Policy.  Alice Wanninger who also works for Mercy Health and a group of other volunteer managers gave this proposal a couple of months ago to our corporate office and they adopted it with just a few changes.

    Way to be proactive Alice!

Hi Julie! Mount Carmel (my former hospital) brought volunteers back 2 weeks ago...reach out to Libby Ballentine Libby.Ballentine@mchs.com for details.

We (OhioHealth) do not have a timeline for volunteers returning. We are "re-evaluating" after Labor Day.

    Hi Julie:

We have brought volunteers back in low risk and high need areas - Outpatient Registration - escorting patients that have been screened, reminder phone calls for Radiology and the Gift Shop.  We had our infection control director speak with those wishing to return, as part of their annual training (10 volunteers at a time for 3 sessions = 30) and then we video taped her presentation.  Her power point presentation and the video are available to others that wish to return.  All must go through this training prior to returning as well as sign a consent form (I used a version of Anne McGookey's consent for --THANK YOU ANNE)  --- that our legal department looked over and added a paragraph (attached).

So far the volunteers that have returned are very happy to be here.  We have had some complications with scheduling, and cross training volunteers, however for the most part it seems to be working.   Unfortunately, there are not as many slots available for the amount that wish to come back.  We are not re-opening ER for the foreseeable future.

I need to hear how everyone has either returned your volunteers or what your timeline and plan is to do this.

My Occ Health Director is my naysayer for allowing the volunteers to return because they fall into the high risk age range.

I need examples of how you have brought back your volunteers (what area they are volunteering-did you bring them all back-some areas not open yet-age restrictions etc)  I need some examples of what others are doing to share with my doctor.  You can email me directly at jujacobs@jtdmh.org

    Thanks in advance
