Hi! I just made my first "video" (with music lol) for National Volunteer Week! I posted this to our hospitals vimeo account (with permission) and then sent the link to our volunteers through volgistics!

Effective today, March 16th we suspended ALL volunteer roles until further notice. We have not officially cancelled our Recognition Event because it isn't until April 25th however, I fully anticipate we will cancel. I have attached a few of the communications I have sent to our volunteers over the past week for anyone looking for scripting. Hoping everyone stays healthy!!

    Good morning,

We have suspended our in-house volunteer program for adults and students until further notice.  We will continue delivering our meals to our home-bound clients with additional precautions in place at this time.  We review and update according to the new guidelines from Governor, ODH, and CDC.

As far as our banquet scheduled April 20 we are looking at options at this point.

Our volunteer services department is "closing" as of Monday, March 16th to April 6th.  It was decided because most of them are in the high risk for this virus it would be in the best interest.  It will be a one man show for a while!

Currently, we do not have restrictions on volunteers serving.  However, we are postponing the volunteer appreciation banquet, which was scheduled for April 6 and the $5 Jewelry Sale, which was scheduled for March 31-April 2.

For those still allowing volunteers to serve, are you moving forward with onboarding new volunteers?

We received notice this morning that all volunteers age 60 and older (which as you know is 98% of them) are NOT to come in to volunteer until further notice.

    Hi All:

The following message was sent to our hospital community yesterday:

    Volunteers

    • ·         Volunteer support needed will be determined by each individual hospital leadership and reduced only to the levels deemed essential to the quality experience of our patients. We will be asking volunteers to use their discretion when determining whether they continue with their service. However, we are advising them about their risks in contracting the virus and suggesting they refrain from volunteer service temporarily if they have an underlying health condition or are in a high-risk category (i.e. over age 60).
    • ·         The Pet Pals program has been temporarily suspended across the system, as the risk of infection is too great at this time.
    • ·         Because our volunteers are essential contributors to a positive patient experience and a majority of our volunteers are over age 60, we may be in need of additional support during this time. If you are a UH caregiver who has the extra time and is interested in assisting our volunteer program, please contact Barbara Nalette, Director of Volunteer Services.

We have postponed our volunteer recognition event which was scheduled for April 17th and have cancelled all fundraising vendors.

We have suspended our college Volunteers and our Observation program.  Dr. Drake OSU President, suspended all in person classes, only online classes at this time.  It was necessary to align with his mandate to keep students off campuses.

As for our community adult program, we sent a similar email as others have, encouraging volunteers to make the choice that is best for them.  We also provided links to our Medical Center landing page for education and updates.
