Hi Heidi:
In the University Hospitals Health System our policy does mirror that of the paid employees. Volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated (current definition does not include the booster) and can apply for either a religious or medical exemption. We do not have many who apply for either but the religious exemption is the one most frequently requested. The volunteer must notify the volunteer services department of their request. At that time they are provided the appropriate form which they complete and return to the appropriate volunteer services department. The requests are all sent to the "main" campus' volunteer office and we submit the request. This has streamlined the process and guarantees a single source of requests for the volunteers.
St. Anne In Toledo also mirrors employees with vaccine requirements, we were told no exemptions for Covid from volunteers in the beginning but now they are allowing it.
Our policy mirrors the requirements for employees.
They are able to submit medical and religious exemptions that are reviewed for approval by HR (just like employees).
Hello Heidi,
At UC Health - our Covid vaccine/TB/Flu policies do mirror those of our employees. Options for Religious and medical reasons for these are also available and reviewed or accepted by our Employee Health as well.
Sheila
A couple questions about your vaccine policy for volunteers (both covid and influenza, though I realize the answers may be different for each):
